Hildegard von Bingen, was born in 1098 and died 1179. She was a female mystic also know as a magistra, Latin meaning a female teacher. She was a composer of music, an artist, she wrote dietry and notes on medicine, and a prophet, among her many talents. Her visions came during, what modern interpretation has attributed to migraine attacks. She saw colours and shapes and felt electric like feelings in her head which inspired her spiritual works. She struggled with the gender barriers of the time, but worked through to achieve a transcendent position in history.
